Women’s Photography
39 ish…
Everyone gets to go through those major decade milestones, even me…. At 20 I was starting my life. 30, I was celebrating my family. 40, I was celebrating my accomplishments. And, at 50, I was thinking about minimizing, however that didn’t work. I was still buying crap. We all have our own thing when we hit those mile markers. We all deal with it, whether it’s a celebration or depression or whatever, we all go through it.
When photographing women, I often ask them “what is your special occasion” and most of the time it’s because they are turning 40, and I can only assume that they are feeling like “I’d better do it now.” We all know that the number is just a number, and it’s all in our head as to how we think we should feel. Several years ago, a woman from Orlando made an appointment with me to discuss her 60-year-old photo session. So, we met, and she had brought me her other private photo albums at 20, 30, 40, 50 and now I was doing the 60. We scheduled her shoot, and I will tell you that she was more beautiful than ever at 60. It’s just a number folks…
So, today’s images are from Jennie, such a beautiful woman, great friend and so smart! She came in for her session last week and just last night we reviewed her images and there were too many to choose from, however we choose the best of the best. I am honored that she selected these images for her album, and one exquisite image for her wall. It was so awesome to see her smile at the screen, I knew that she felt proud of herself, and I was proud of her too!
It makes me feel great inside when I see this! I’ve done my job, and so did she…
During the viewing session, she disclosed to me that she was waiting a couple of years for “Ray Baldino” to photograph her, she even had a spot on her wall waiting …. I nearly fell off my chair, that was such a nice thing to say, and to hear that from her lips to my ears was so touching.
Sometimes I feel that my artwork goes through time without notice, however I am finding out that it isn’t true. I actually have fans that love my work, and I cannot begin to say how much that means to me….
Thank You!
